How to Identify & Avoid Online Scammers

While I encourage and teach my students to sell on multiple online  marketplaces, please beware of the con artists and scammers that want to take advantage of you.

Attached below is a list of the most common scams on the most popular marketplaces. eBay has one of the best anti-scammer procedures and policies. However, if you are selling on other platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and especially Craig's List, please download and print this PDF to use as your guide.

Remember, the most common scams involve online payments - especially those using Venmo and Zelle. Therefore, the best way to avoid scammers, is to only accept Cash Payments. It is nearly impossible to scam you when all you will accept for payment is CASH!
